We can discuss these

1. When you create a page it will appear in the new pages page. No need to link it unless you need to emphasize it.
2. Never remove the link to new pages from Main_Page
   1. Think about the effects of changes on existing pages which link to a page.
3. Use existing categories (see Special:Categories) before creating a new category
   1. If you create a new category create the descriptor page explaining the intended use.
4. If you put something on the Main_Page under Hot Topics and believe it needs to stay there mark it Permanent Entry
   1. If it is time sensitive and will need to be taken down for sure, put it in Upcoming
   2. Don't delete a Permanent entry if you did not create it. THink it needs to go? Put that uyp for discussion.
