Google “creating secure passwords” and your results will include more online articles than you likely have time to sort through. A couple of those are below and are definitely worth your reading time. Until you have time to read, here are some “basics” that will get you started.

Centre’s system requires that your password be a minimum of 7 characters (no blank spaces). Our network does not require a complex password architecture. However, for more secure passwords we HIGHLY recommend that your password:

  • is a combination of alpha (UPPER and lower case letters), numeric, and special characters (` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = { } | [ ] \ : " ; ' < > ? , . /).
  • has at least one numeric or symbol/special character in the second through sixth positions.
  • is significantly different from prior passwords.
  • does NOT contain your name or user name.
  • does NOT use a common word or name.

Other password information:

  • When a password is changed, you cannot immediately change it back to the original password.
  • When you change your password, remember to update your password on your smart phone, iPad or other tablet, and any other mobile device.
