Installing Windows XP Service Pack 2

  1. Download the Windows XP Service Pack 2 installation program [here]. Save this file to your Desktop.
  2. Double-click the WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe file that you saved on your Desktop.
  3. Once all of the files are done extracting, the Welcome to the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup Wizard window will be displayed. Click Next >.
  4. Click the button marked I Agree and then click Next >.
  5. Click Next > to accept the default location to store the backup files. Setup will then begin copying files to your computer. This could take anywhere from thirty minutes to more than an hour.
  6. Once the Completing the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup Wizard window appears, click Finish to restart your computer.
  7. After your computer restarts, a Help protect your PC screen will come up. Click the button marked Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now and then click Next.
  8. Your computer will then finish starting up and you're ready to go.
