Microsoft Outlook is a Personal Information Manager (PIM) which assists you in organizing the many details of your day-to-day activities into one central location. Features such as your daily tasks, appointments, e-mail messages, names and address are all in one place. By using Outlook as your PIM, you can create, send, and delete messages; send attachments; maintain an address book and calendar; create tasks, journals, and notes. With these capabilities, Microsoft Outlook makes it easy for you to store your business and personal information together in the same place.

Accessing Mail

To access Microsoft Outlook from your personal office computer, you must be logged on to the server.

  1. Double-click on the Microsoft Outlook icon located on your desktop.

Outlook Screen and Menu Keys

Once you open up Microsoft Outlook, the screen will look similar to the one that is displayed below.

Note: In figure 2, the screen is being viewed in Folder view and Preview Pane view.

To show or hide the Folder List:

  1. Select the View Menu Key < Folder List

To show or hide the Preview Pane:

  1. Select the View Menu Key < Preview Pane

Outlook Shortcuts Bar

The left side of the screen is the Outlook Bar. The Outlook Bar can be viewed as outlook shortcuts, my shortcuts or.

The shortcuts option list features that are most commonly used in Outlook. These features include such items as the inbox, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, and deleted items.

View Menu Bar

To change views of your Outlook Inbox:

  1. Select the View Menu Key and choose either
