Using the KVM switches in the server room

When you need to access the console interface of any of the rack mounted server in the servers room you will need to use the monitor and keyboard sitting next to the CARS box. Power on the monitor and follow these instructions to change between servers.

Each server has a label with the name, IP address, and KVM port number listed. The KVM port number is in parentheses. Each rack has a label with its bank number at the top of the rack. With this information you should be able to access any of the servers.

Controlling the KVM

  • Strike Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock, Spacebar to diplay the control screen that lists the machine and banks you can access.
  • Use Page Up and Page Down keys to move between the racks.
  • The racks are labeled: Bank 00, Bank 01, Bank 02, Bank 03
  • The up arrow and down arrow will allow you to move up and down in the list. Strike Enter to select a server and Esc to clear the list.
