Virus and Spyware Removal

If your computer has been infected with a virus or (more likely) spyware program, you can always bring your computer into ITS for us to clean up for you. For those that feel more than capable of installing and running scans themselves, though, can use some of the programs listed below, read some of the articles, and take some tips to perhaps clean up your own machine.
Note: ITS is not responsible for any damage that you do to your computer in the process of trying to fix it. The information listed below is strictly a guideline and is only an attempt to help. If you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself, please bring the computer in to ITS so we can help you with it.

The Removal Process
The key with removing a piece of spyware is using the proper programs, in the proper order. Most spyware, if not removed successfully, will often install itself when the computer restarts. The order is usually something like this:
- Stop the program from running.
- Uninstall or delete the program files associated with the spyware.
- Remove all references to the malicious files.
- Restart the computer.
